Troop 12771 Como Zoo 'Girl's Night Out" Event

Here is a quick recap of our AWESOME event that was filled with non-stop wildlife education,

fun, excitement, and new experiences for most of the girls.  It was an EVENT TO REMEMBER

and build upon :)  It was worth the investment for sure.  The staff who hosted the event, Nicki and Brenda, were fabulous and full of knowledge.  Our itinerary was fast paced in order to gain the most from our visit, and was just the right amount of activities and variety.  There was never a moment of boredom.

Without a doubt, I would highly recommend this program to other groups.  The highlight for me was

having the zoo to ourselves without the public ~ what a treat!  I just wish we had more time to see everything!

If  girls want to expand their education at the Zoo, and see even more exhibits ... check this out!

There are 2 additional overnight events the Zoo offers to earn the last 2 crests that go underneath the Como Zoo Patch.

These events are:   ( 1 ) Polar Nights in Northern Lights and,  ( 2 ) Animals in Action.  Our troop attended the 3rd event called "Girls Night Out Wildlife Badge Overnight".

At our "Girls Night Out Wildlife Badge" event, the girls participated in the following activities:

~ Ice-Breaker Activity where girls mingled to find their match of State Symbols (worn on the backs of each girl).

~ Creating Nature Journals including fun facts, sketches, and pastel colorings of the Seals, Aquatic Animals,

and Small caged animals (bullfrog, long-necked turtle, quail, armadillo, tarantula, poison dart frog), etc.

~ Outdoor Survival Obstacle Games ~ very exciting teamwork that builds on wilderness survivor skills.

~ Evening Snacks & Breakfast

~ Sleep in the newly built Polar Bear Lodge Facility overlooking the Polar Bear Exhibit!

~ Como Survivor Challenge in the North Garden ~ where girls had to find plants that would improve health or save lives.

~ Tropical Rainforest Education and the animals who live there.

~ Visit & Journaling at the Tropical Encounters Exhibit ~ the ant life exhibit was particularly cool.

~ Cookie Awards, Badges, Bandana Scrunchie Making, Games & Cards, Hair-do's, etc.

~ Zoo Clues and Poison Ivy Education.
